The Chicago Wolves have re-signed defenseman Mark Matheson.
The 27-year-old blueliner ranked second among Wolves rear guards with a career-high nine goals, 24 assists and 33 points in 70 games last season. He also ranked second among team defensemen and fourth overall on Chicago with a +12 plus/minus rating.
Overall, the Calgary, Alberta, native has racked up 15 goals, 70 assists and 85 points in 260 career AHL contests with the Wolves and Milwaukee Admirals, spanning five seasons (2006-11). He also skated in 26 Calder Cup playoff contests with Milwaukee, collecting six points (G, 5A) and 14 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning pro, MATHESON spent four years at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (Hockey East), where he tallied 20 goals, 29 assists, 49 points and 28 penalty minutes in 131 games from 2003 to 2007.
