Wolves Pick Up 3-2 Preseason Victory Over Peoria

Forwards Darren Haydar and Andre Deveaux and defenseman Mike Siklenka scored for Chicago (2-0), while goaltenders Peter Mannino (23 saves) and Chris Carrozzi (10 saves) split time for the Wolves in Mannino’s win.

The Wolves took an early lead, 1-0, 13:33 into the first period. Siklenka drove to the net and took a shot, which Peoria netminder Jake Allen stopped, but Siklenka followed up his own rebound and popped it back into the net.

The Rivermen got on the board 5:08 into the second period when defenseman Dean Arsene fed the puck across to center T.J. Hensick, who walked in and slipped a shot through Mannino’s legs.

Chicago regained its lead, 2-1, at 7:48 of the middle frame. Defenseman Paul Postma held the puck in the high slot before passing it down to Haydar, who moved in and snapped a shot past Allen, five-hole.

Deveaux gave the Wolves a 3-1 lead with the eventual game winner, 9:57 into the middle period when he ripped a slapshot from the far point past Allen, top shelf.

Allen posted 20 saves for the Rivermen.

Peoria (0-2) pulled within one, 3-2, with 5:36 remaining in the third period when right wing Adam Cracknell’s shot from the slot banked off a Wolves player and trickled over the line.

The Wolves will round out their preseason slate when they travel to Milwaukee on Saturday to take on the Milwaukee Admirals at the Milwaukee School of Engineering’s Kern Center at 7 p.m.
