Chicago Wolves fans might be surprised to see a familiar faces on the Philadelphia Flyers bench when the Stanley Cup Finals begin in Chicago this weekend.  Center Jared Ross, who competed in 103 regular-season games with the Wolves from 2005 to 2007, is currently a member of the Flyers roster.

The now 27-year-old forward has played in three games for Philadelphia this postseason, all of which came during the Eastern Conference Semifinal against the Boston Bruins, but he once was a regular fixture on the ice at the Allstate Arena.

The Huntsville, Ala., native signed with the Wolves as a free agent following a four-year career at the University of Alabama-Huntsville and a 12-game stint with the now defunct United Hockey League’s Motor City Mechanics.

He played 62 games with the Wolves during the 2005-06 season - his first full professional campaign - tallying 27 assists and 37 points, and was re-signed by Chicago in July 2006.   Ross notched 15 points (7G, 8A) in 41 contests with the Wolves during the 2006-07 campaign before being traded to the Philadelphia Phantoms on March 1, 2007, in exchange for right wing Niko Dimitrakos.

Ross has been a part of the Flyers organization since departing the Wolves in 2007, spending three seasons with the Philadelphia Phantoms (2007-2009) and appearing in 73 outings with the Adirondack Phantoms this season.  He became the first player from the state of Alabama to play in the National Hockey League when he made his NHL debut with the Flyers on Oct. 11, 2008 against the New York Rangers.

Overall, Ross has appeared in 13 career regular-season NHL contests with Philadelphia, recording two penalty minutes, and nine career Stanley Cup playoff tilts, notching one goal.  You can follow along with this Wolves alum by clicking here.
